Depression is one of the greatest phenomenons facing our younger age. Teen depression rates seem like the ones rising the fastest. But what people don’t realize is that it’s nearly completely avoidable with a few simple steps which I will get into in this post.
Teens stay on social media to stay connected with the rest of the world and their friends but this ultimately makes them depressed due to the nature of how the apps they’re using are made. Apps like Tik Tok are made to constantly stimulate entertainment in an incredibly easy fashion (scrolling) which pumps young children full of chemicals they most likely never asked for. Once all feelings are stimulated this creates addictions which later morphs into necessity and lacking feelings at all. Depression slowly inclines by these chemicals that give teens emotions they never deserved.
Fulfillment will never be achieved as long as these chemicals still exist and are in place and it is arbitrary to assume our feelings can be fixed by something as simple as deplugging. The thing is, is that depression is a drug, and a dangerous one because it’s barely warned about and most people don’t know how to fix it. Depression only exists because of addictions, a lack of exercise, a poor diet, and constant chemicals. Whenever teens get sad they don’t even attempt to cheer themselves up by working out, or eating something healthy, they go on a social media app or listen to sad music to pity themselves which makes them all the more depressed.
